Brian Streeter Named to CWPA Board of Directors

Penn State Behrend Director of Athletics Brian Streeter, George Washington University men's and women's head coach Scott Reed, and California State University-Maritime Academy Director of Athletics Marvin Christopher were elected to the Collegiate Water Polo Association Board of Directors  by the league membership at the organization's 2009 Annual Meeting on June 1.

Reed and Christopher, who were re-elected to their positions on the board, join first-time member Streeter, University of Michigan head coach Matt Anderson,C.S. McKee Senior Vice President Mark Gensheimer, CWPA Commissioner Dan Sharadin, and CWPA President/Massachusetts Institute of Technology Assistant Director of Athletics John Benedick on the Board of Directors.

Charged with enforcing the bylaws and policies established by the league membership through a legislative process, the Board of Directors serve as an oversight group over the varsity and club components of the Collegiate Water Polo Association.

Brian Streeter recently completed his twelfth year as Behrend's Director of Athletics.  A member of the multi-divisional Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Board of Directors and chair of the organization's Championships Committee, he recently completed his tenure on the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Water Polo Committee and served as chairman of the committee in 2009.

In 2001, Streeter was named one of two ECAC Jostens Administrators of the Year and served as the ECAC President during the 2004-05 academic year overseeing an organization which serves Divisions I, II, and III colleges and universities in locations from Maine to North Carolina.

The 2004-05 recipient of the General Robert R. Neyland Outstanding Athletic Director Award from the All-Amercian Football Foundation, Streeter was recognized "for his ongoing support of college athletics and his continued support of college football".

A past commissioner of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), he participated in numerous AMCC subcommittees. He previously served on the NCAA Women's Soccer and Men's and Women's Water Polo Committees in addition to past service on the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Selection Committee for Women's Softball.

In addition, he has led the blue and white to consistent success in the AMCC as the Behrend Lions have captured eight of the past nine league Presidents Cups, presented to the most accomplished athletic program in conference competition.

Prior to joining Behrend, Streeter spent fourteen years as an assistant athletics director and head coach of men's basketball at Hobart College. He is a five-time winner of the Schoenfeld Regional Sportsmanship Award given by the College Basketball Officials Association. In 1995, he earned top honors for the same award nationwide. He also was named the Geneva, New York, American Red Cross Volunteer of the Year in 1993.

A graduate of Texas A&M University, he received his master's degree from Ithaca College. A past member of the NCAA Men's and Women's Water Polo Committee, he also serves as a board member of the American Red Cross and Visit Erie
