Jacob Bernstein (Sierra Madre/Pasadena) has been named the ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR Athlete of the Week for the week of October 5, 2009. Bernstein made 35 saves over the weekend at the Claremont Invitational, including a game saving five meter penalty save during the Cal Tech game. The win against Cal Tech put the Behrend Lions into the win column for the first time this season.

David Miller was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division First-Team. Miller earned a 3.73 GPA in computer science and was recently named Penn State Behrend's Male Academic Athlete of the Year. He is also a four-year member of the AMCC All-Academic teams and has earned Chi Sigma Alpha National Student-Athlete Honor Society honors for two straight years.

The men's team scored 252 points to run away with the title as Mount Union finished second among the seven teams with 173 points. The WBCA Pink ZoneTM initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. Pink Zone T-shirts will be sold during the games in the Junker Center, donations will be accepted at the door, and fans are encouraged to wear pink articles of clothing. All proceeds from the event will go to the Erie unit of the American Cancer Society - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

The 2008-09 men's and women's basketball teams are nationally ranked among the top in Division III hoops. Both teams have enjoyed successful seasons so far and are looking to finish the season strong. Steals are hard to come by in a basketball game, but to the Behrend women's team, they seem to come pretty easy. In Division III basketball, they are currently number second in team steals at 17.0 spg. In the AMCC, they are ranked number one with almost three more steals per game than any of the other AMCC opponents.
