Bio
Pat Flaherty is beginning his fifth season on the Behrend men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach after a decade of coaching excellence at Mercyhurst Prep High School.
Flaherty led the Lakers to the playoffs in nine of his 10 years at the helm. He compiled a career record of 185-87 from 2000-2010, making him the winningest coach in the school’s history. In 2002, 2006, and 2010, he guided Mercyhurst Prep to the District 10 championship. In 2002 and 2010, his teams played in the PIAA Western Finals.
Flaherty is also involved in basketball activities the community. He is the co-director of the Grandview Basketball Camp and helps run the Behrend Basketball summer camps.
Flaherty has been a teacher in the Erie School District for 15 years and currently teaches seventh and eighth grade language arts at Jefferson Elementary School. Flaherty resides in Erie with his wife Natalie.
