Erie, PA – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team advances to 5-0 in conference play after a 2-1 win over Medaille Thursday.
George Tor scored the lone goal for the Mavericks (10-4-1, 3-2 AMCC) in the 23rd minute of play, his shot brushed off the finger tips of goalie Chris Bolea to find the open net.
The Lions (9-2-3, 5-0) off the foot of Jake Gamble, would score just five minutes later to even the match between the two AMCC power-houses. The goal came by way of a Brian Bodnar cross that gave Gamble the opportunity to chip it in from 15 yards out.
After a tough, scoreless 44:56 of play in the second half, Medaille fans would experience brief Déjà vu. Like the women in the first game, the men would tally in the final seconds to defeat the Mavericks before time expired. Lance Sabol's unassisted goal with time running out gave Behrend the 2-1 edge to end the game.
The Lions will continue their strong at home play Saturday October 16 against Penn State Altoona at 3 oclock.
