Behrend Men's Swimmers and Divers Receive All-Conference Awards

After their third straight year of winning the AMCC Championship the Behrend men have earned numerous all-conference awards.

The men were led by Steve Graves (McMurray/Peter's Township) who was named the AMCC diver of the year for the second time.  Graves has been named the diver of the week seven times throughout the season.  He would capture the AMCC championship with a 332.25 score.  He would outscore his competition by nearly 60 points.

Graves was joined by Dane Dombrosky (Mt. Pleasant, PA/Mt. Pleasant), Steve Zomcik (Kersey, PA/St. Marys), Ben Strunk (Cogan Station, PA/Williamsport), and Josh Weaver (Franklin, PA/Franklin) on the first team all-conference.

Dombrosky, Zomcik, Strunk, and Weaver would team up to be honored as first team all-conference in four relays.  They would take home first team all-AMCC in the 200 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay, 800 freestyle relay, and the 400 freestyle relay.  The blue and white took all but one relay event at the 2009 AMCC championships.

Dombrosky would also be honored individually as he was named first team all-conference in the 500 freestyle as well as the 100 fly.  Dombrosky would finish the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:58.20 just .5 seconds in front of teammate Weaver.

Weaver would be named first team all-conference in the 100 and 200 freestyle events to add to his honors in the four relays.  Weaver finished strong in the AMCC championship meet with times of :49.38 and 1:47.67, respectively.  Zomcik would add individual honors for his performance in the 50 freestyle. Zomcik would break the AMCC championship meet record with a time of 22.14 in the 50 freestyle.

The blue and white will be back in the pool when they travel to the ECAC championships held in Boston, Massachusetts on February 28-March 1.  The NCAA tournament will be held on March 12-14 for the women and March 19-20 for the men.
