The Penn State Behrend track and field teams competed on April 17 at the Westminster Invitational, with the men capturing first place while the women finished second. The Penn State Behrend men's and women's track & field teams turned in outstanding efforts on Saturday, April 10 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. Four Division III teams competed in the event and the Behrend men's team took first place with 204 points, while the women earned a third place finish with 152 points.

Q & A With Behrend Track and Field Coach Greg Cooper
What are your thoughts on your team beginning your season in Florida and the Salisbury and Coastal Carolina Events? The team performed really well at both the Salisbury and Coastal Carolina meets. We had school records broken in both cases, and ECAC qualifiers in both meets. The training was excellent, the team bonded well, and it was great to be on a track for the first time this year. I think the athletes were ready to go, and for as much traveling as we did, I thought they responded well to the meets.

Hartzler Captures 16th at NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships
Penn State Behrend's Bryson Hartzler (Belleville, PA/Indian Valley) has qualified for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships which will be hosted May 21-23 by Marietta College. Hartzler was part of a group of Behrend track & field athletes who recently competed at the ECAC Championships. In the high jump, the sophomore cleared a mark of 6' 4.75" to finish in sixth place. Hartzler qualified for the NCAA championships when he set a school record with a jump of 6' 8.75" earlier this season.

Eight Penn State Behrend track & field athletes represented themselves well at the ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Tufts University March 6 and 7. Over 100 Division III institutions sent track & field athletes to Boston to compete at the championships, and the blue and white had several notable successes over the weekend. Jenna Fatica (Erie/Villa Maria) capped off a terrific indoor season by setting a new Behrend record in the 800 meter run.
