On Tuesday, October 27, the Behrend Lions defeated the D'Youville Spartans 7-0 to lock up second place in the AMCC regular season. Behrend's Josh Teti (McKeesport, PA/Elizabeth Foward) and Lance Sabol (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) each scored a pair of goals in the routine win.

Penn State Behrend Claims Four AMCC Athletes of the Week -- September 7, 2009
The Behrend Lions claimed four AMCC Player of the Week honors. The league office announces selections each Monday throughout the season. Erin McCreary (Pittsburgh/Seton LaSalle) was selected as the women's soccer player of the week. Dustin Walker (Apollo/Kiski) was named the men's goalkeeper of the week. For the men's golf team, senior Joe Nelson (Warren/Warren) led the Behrend Lions to the Pitt-Bradford Invitational title. Kevin Gorny (Erie/McDowell) Gorny led the race from start to finish at the Westminster Invitational, and outdistanced the the nearest collegiate competitor by over 21 seconds.

Men's Cross Country Team Opens 2009 With Win at Westminster
The Behrend Lions men's cross country team opened the 2009 season in impressive fashion by claiming the team trophy at the Fisher Invitational hosted by Westminster College. Penn State Behrend placed first out of fourteen teams thanks to the pace set by senior standout Kevin Gorny (Erie, PA/McDowell) who turned in a 26:25 and placed first overall.

2009 Behrend Lions Cross Country Season Preview
After a banner 2007 Behrend Lions cross country season, where both teams earned the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship, the men’s program followed up with another league crown last fall, while a younger version of the women’s team placed third in the highly competitive AMCC conference. “Both our teams return a great core of runners from last season, and there are some first-year runners who have the opportunity to step in and play key roles,” said third year Head Coach Greg Cooper. “The combination of hard work with experienced and motivated returners and a quality group of new members has us excited about the upcoming season.”
