Lions Run Well at Mideast Pre-Regional
Denny Lydon placed 33rd out of 198 runners and was one of three freshman to finish in the Top 35 to lead Penn State Behrend mens cross country team at the Carnegie Mellon Mideast Pre-Regional Race on Saturday.
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Denny Lydon placed 33rd out of 198 runners and was one of three freshman to finish in the Top 35 to lead Penn State Behrend men’s cross country team at the Carnegie Mellon Mideast Pre-Regional Race on Saturday.
Carnegie Mellon had three of the top four runner finish first, while Oberlin was in second and Case Western followed in third. The Lions were seventh out of 16 teams with a score of 204.
Lydon, the current AMCC Runner of the Week, clocked in at 27:37 to pace the squad and take six seconds off his time from the Behrend Invitational. Justin DiPenti ran a 27:47 for 38th overall and Carl Kallgren tallied a time of 28:06 for the 8K course to place 42nd.
Staying close together, Dan Mello and Steve Monnie were eight seconds apart for 45th and 46th overall. Mello ran in 28:15 and Monnie finished in 28:23.
The final two place runners for Behrend were Alex Myers and Steel Flynn. Myers came in 66th place with a time of 29:02 and Flynn was seconds behind in 29:07 for 68th.
The Lions return to action next Saturday at Carnegie Mellon. Meet time is 11 a.m.
