Doug Stratton is entering his first season as a full-time assistant coach and seventh overall with the Lions.  Stratton has 16 years of collegiate and high school track and field coaching experience under his belt.

While coaching at Behrend, he has helped two athletes achieve national and regional recognition.  In 2006, Stratton guided Staci Banaszek to an ECAC Championship and a ninth place finish at the NCAA National Championships after she jumped 5’6’’.  He also coached Bryson Hartzler to a jump of 6’8.75’’ in 2009, qualifying him for the NCAA Championships as well.

During his time at McDowell, Stratton was able to lead multiple athletes to state medals and Pennsylvania state records.  He has helped a number of athletes earn Division I scholarships including Sheena Gordon (North Carolina), Nicole Smith (Central Arizona), Ajla Glavasevic (Buffalo), and Erin Hannon (Nebraska).  Stratton has also coached two athletes who are still active at the collegiate level, Pat Cochran (48’9.5’’ triple jump, 6’8’’ high jump) at Michigan, and John Dahlstrand (6’8’’ high jump, 46’4’’ triple jump) in the multi events at Akron.

Stratton earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Allegheny where he played football and was a member of the track and field team.  He currently owns Stratton & Associates, an independent insurance agency, and is enrolled in the Behrend MBA program.
