Softball Earns Fourth Trip to NCAA Tournament
The Penn State Behrend softball team earned their fourth bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament by defeating Penn State Altoona 4-3 on Sunday in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship game.

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team earned their fourth bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament by defeating Penn State Altoona 4-3 on Sunday in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship game.
The Lions (26-13) are back in the NCAA field for the first time since 2009 and will open up against Ohio Northern (26-11). The Polar Bears won the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular season title and finished runner-up in the OAC tournament.
In the AMCC title game, Ashley Gruber's walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth gave Behrend their fifth AMCC Championship.
In their previous trip to the dance, the Lions fell to Buffalo St. 5-2 and Cortland,
1-0.
Behrend will face Ohio Northern for just the second time in school history on Thursday at 4 p.m in Alma, Michigan.
