Behrend Finishes Day One of Blue Devil Invitational

FREDONIA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team are in fifth place out of eight teams at the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational on Friday night. The Lions earned a score of 70 after competing in four events.
Anne Lawrence (State College, PA/State College) had the best finish of the night, coming in second in the 200 IM. She won the preliminaries and then posted a season-best time of 2:17.18, seven seconds better than her previous top mark.
Swimming the 1650 free for the first time this year, Jesse Dunleavy (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) placed sixth in 19:27.81.
Hilary MacManus (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) was the top Lions' swimmer in the 50 free. She touched in a season-best time of 25.80 for eighth out of 51 competitors.
In the final event of the day, the 800 free relay team of Emily Spicher (Falls Creek, PA/DuBois), Elizabeth Causgrove (Erie, PA/McDowell), Sarah Jelinek (Warren, PA/Warren) and Nicole Nau (Johnstown, PA/Richland) took sixth with a time of 9:42.37.
Behrend returns to action tomorrow for day two of the invitational. Meet begins at 10 a.m.
