Women’s Cross Country Announces Team Awards
ERIE, Pa. – After completing a successful year, the Penn State Behrend women's cross country team announced their 2011 team awards.
The team's Most Valuable Runner award went to Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy). Bertges led the Lions all season, earning All-AMCC honors after finishing in second at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) meet. Bertges was also named the AMCC Runner of the Week on three occasions.
First-year runner, Zofia Stark (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) was tabbed as the program's Rookie of the Year. Stark was named to the All-AMCC team for her outstanding performance at the conference meet.
The Scholarship and Leadership award went to sophomore Becca Foster (Frederick, MD/Walkersville) for her off-the-field contributions to the team, school and to the community while representing the university in a proud positive manner.
Katie Patterson (Erie, PA/Villa Maria) was honored with the team's Most Improved Runner award. Patterson continuously built on her season from start to finish. Patterson also earned All-AMCC honors for the second consecutive season.
