LOUISVILLE, Ky. – JT Miller pitched seven shutout innings as the Wabash Little-Giants defeated Penn State Behrend 9-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Brian Bohman (Erie, PA/McDowell) reached base twice for the Lions, who enter the 2014 season as the defending Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) champions.
Jordan Weinzierl (St. Marys, PA/St. Marys) , Matt Wolczko (Apollo, PA/Kiski), Ryan Finnegan (Fombell, PA/Riverside), and Alex Margraf (Erie, PA/McDowell) added hits for Behrend, who dropped down to 0-1 on the season.
In the nightcap, the Lions fell 9-0 to Earlham.
Tommy Kocur (Erie, PA/McDowell) had two hits, including a double for Behrend.
Nathan Junk (Cabot, PA/Knoch), Chris Bissell (Pittsburgh, PA/Woodland Hills), and Justin Dilla (South Park, PA/South Park) each added one base knock for the Lions, who fell to 0-2 on the young season.
Sunday's previously announced game against Spalding has been cancelled. Behrend will return to action in Fort Pierce, Florida when they take on Richard Stockton as part of a doubleheader March 9.
First pitch is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
