Two Selected as Collegiate Baseball Players to Watch
Collegiate Baseball Magazine recently announced its 2015 NCAA Division III Players to Watch List, which includes two Penn State Behrend players.
ERIE, Pa. – Collegiate Baseball Magazine recently announced its 2015 NCAA Division III Players to Watch List, which includes two Penn State Behrend players.
Sophomore catcher Brian Bohman (Erie, PA/McDowell) and junior third basemen Ryan Finnegan (Fombell, PA/Riverside) were selected to the prestigious list.
Bohman had a phenomenal freshman campaign and was selected to the ECAC South Region First Team along with tabbing First-Team All-AMCC honors. Bohman stepped into the starting lineup and hit .362 with nine doubles and two homeruns. He drove in 24 RBI's and swiped 11 steals while fielding at a .985 clip. He was voted by his teammates as the team's Rookie of the Year.
Earning Second Team All-AMCC honors, Finnegan had a breakout sophomore season hitting .333 and leading the squad with 10 doubles. He finished tied for the team lead in RBI's with 26 and was second on the squad in On-Base-Percentage (.428).
Since 2009, twenty-five Lions have been recognized by Collegiate Baseball Magazine. Behrend will begin the season on February 28 at Hood College. Game one of the doubleheader is set for 12:00 p.m.
In the 2015 pre-season poll released by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the Behrend Lions received votes towards a Top 25 ranking. In 2014, Behrend captured the programs fourth ECAC South Region Title and finished with a 30-14 record.
