Lions Earn ABCA Team Academic Award for Sixth-Consecutive Season

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced the Penn State Behrend baseball team as recipients of the 2022 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award. The Lions were one of 154 Division III teams to be recognized for their efforts off the field.

ERIE, Pa. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced the Penn State Behrend baseball team as recipients of the 2022 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award. The Lions were one of 154 Division III teams to be recognized for their efforts off the field.

"It takes work to excel in the classroom and between the lines," said head coach Paul Benim. "We are really proud of both the individual academic performance of our players and especially this team effort—earning honors from the ABCA for the sixth straight year."

To earn the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, a team's head coach must be a member of the ABCA while posting a team grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
