Behrend Baseball Scores 27 Runs in Game Two; Gibson Reaches 100 Career Hits

CRESSON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team split an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) doubleheader with Mt. Aloysius on Sunday. The Lions won the nightcap 27-5 and fell in the opener, 5-4.

Game One:
Score: Mt. Aloysius 5, Penn State Behrend 4
Records: Penn State Behrend (11-5, 2-1 AMCC), Mt. Aloysius (7-15, 1-2 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* The Mounties collected their first AMCC win of the season
* Behrend plated two runs in the first on an RBI from Hank Shaffer and a double by David Gibson
* The Lions extended the lead to 4-0 in the fourth on an RBI single by Dylan Barnes
* The Mounties rallied and scored five runs over two innings
* The Mount Aloysius defense held Behrend to one hit over final three innings, while the Lions left five runners on base
* Barnes went 2-for-4 with an RBI, run scored and two stolen bases

* The Lions erupted for 27 runs on 25 hits, scoring in five different innings
* Behrend put up 12 runs in the first inning, highlighted by Gibson's three-RBI triple and three-run homer
* The multiple runs continued in four out of seven innings
* Gibson went 4-for-4 with six RBIs and four runs scored, reaching base five times
* Paul Connolly finished with three hits, four RBIs, five runs, a home run and a triple
* Tyler Banks had the third home run, knocking in three runs with a hit over the fence to finish with five RBI
* Colin Bolla started and earned the win with five innings of work and striking out four
* Behrend had 14 different players with a hit or more
