Welcome To The Men's Soccer Blog - Day One In Spain

After a greatly anticipated take off from Pittsburgh, we landed in Atlanta where we connected to Barcelona. We safely arrived in Barcelona via our flight from Atlanta, GA. The eight and a half hour flight, along with a six hour time difference, made for a surprisingly short feeling flight with no difficulty. Delta airlines provided a great selection of movies and interactive games that helped us pass the time.

After we landed in Barcelona at 8:30am local time, we met our tour guide Marta and proceeded to tour the FC Barcelona Stadium, Camp Nou. (see photo). After walking through the trophy rooms, a locker room, and getting a chance to walk on the field, our spirits were lifted from a long day of travel. We then got in on the bus and headed out for a panoramic tour of Barcelona provided by our tour guide. After a few quick stops to see the Olympic Stadium and to get a good view of the port while cruise ships doc, we made our way to the hotel where we checked in, at about 2:00pm local time, and found we would be without water until further notice. It would be great to get this fixed so we can shower and clean up a little. Then we promptly went and enjoyed a nice lunch and have time to explore on our own for the rest of the night.

As we explore, we must rest up due to a very long day where some of the team hasn't  slept in what is now running on 26 straight hours since we left for the Pittsburgh airport yesterday morning. We have more time to ourselves tomorrow and have our first game against a local team in the evening. Thats day one in a nutshell, stayed tuned for the rest of the trip!
