Murphy, Louis Headline All-AMCC Men's Tennis Team
Penn State Behrend men’s tennis freshman Graham Louis was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Newcomer of the Year and Louis Murphy was voted Coach of the Year, headlining the All-AMCC honors.
ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend men's tennis freshman Graham Louis (Erie, PA/Fairview) was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Newcomer of the Year and Louis Murphy was voted Coach of the Year, headlining the All-AMCC honors.
Murphy led the Lions to their fourth straight AMCC Championships last weekend and 10th overall title. Louis also landed on the All-Conference Team for No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles. William Thomas (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem), Jonathon Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt), Owen Sinnott (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) and Carson Souser (Clay, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) also secured a spot on the All-AMCC Team.
Louis led the team with a 13-5 singles record during the regular season. He tallied an 8-4 record at the No. 4 spot and went 5-1 in conference play. He also was named to the All-Conference Team at No. 1 doubles with Laier. Louis had a 12-4 overall record, including a 6-1 mark with Laier in the top spot. The duo went undefeated in AMCC action. In the AMCC Tournament, Louis won all four matches, including two at No. 1 doubles and two at No. 4 singles.
Thomas was tied for second on the team during the regular season in singles wins at 9. He was undefeated in AMCC play at 5-0. Thomas tallied a win at No. 5 singles in the AMCC Semifinals this weekend and had his championship match unfinished.
Sinnott and Souser were selected to the All-Conference Team at No. 2 doubles. The pair tallied a 5-0 mark in conference play and went 6-1 together at the second spot. Sinnott and Souser posted a 2-0 record this weekend at the AMCC Championships to improve their overall record to 8-1.
