Men’s Water Polo Set for MPSF Championships

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The No. 6 Penn State Behrend men's water polo team competes in the three-day Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships hosted by UCLA, beginning with a matchup against No. 3 Stanford on Friday, Nov. 22. Game time on Friday in the Spieker Aquatics Center is slated for 10:15 a.m. PST/1:15 p.m. EST.

* For the second straight season, the Lions matched the program record with seven victories, ending with a 14-8 win over Washington & Jefferson in the regular-season finale
* Behrend held a better record than the Presidents in the MPSF East to earn the sixth seed
* Several Lions finished the regular season in the top 10 of the conference rankings
* Senior Jack Holl (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) sits third in the conference in goals (62) and eighth in points (65)
* Freshman Nick Thompson (Hudsonville, MI/Hudsonville) ranks fifth in scores (49), ninth in points (62), and 10th in steals (32)
* Fellow freshman Atticus Bowman (Albuquerque, NM/Volcano Vista) leads the MPSF in assists with 71, while being second in points (82)
* In performance indicator, Thompson (98.4), Holl (83), and Bowman (76.2) rank third, seventh, and ninth, respectively
* Dylan Hayslip (Flower Mound, TX/Marcus) (34 steals) and Ethan Friedman (Valley Center, CA/Valley Center) (33 steals) stand fifth and seventh in the conference in takeaways
* Friedman is first in the rankings with 180 saves, while Leyton Vrono (Murrieta, CA/Murrieta Valley) has made 61 saves this season which is good for eighth
* Rounding out the stat sheet is Evan Blasky (Rockford, MI/Rockford) who has registered 21 sprint wins to place in seventh in the conference rankings
* Since joining the MPSF in 2015, Behrend is in search of its fourth-ever conference tournament victory with the last one coming vs. Austin during the 2019 season (8-7)
