Water Polo Falls to Navy, Long Island on Day Two of Navy Open

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team dropped a pair of matches on day two of the Navy Open. The Lions fell to the Division I hosts by score of 18-8 and then to Long Island University, 15-10.

Match One:
Score: Navy 18, Penn State Behrend 8
Records: Penn State Behrend (2-4), Navy (8-5)

Key Moments:

* Freshman Jack Johnson and sophomore Freddy Browarski both capitalized on penalty shots in the first half
* Freshman Rylan McDowell contributes on a breakaway in the last few seconds of the second quarter, making the score 8-3 at halftime
* Freshman Caden Currykosky added a goal to start the third quarter
* Seniors Eugene Kruger and Ryan Carpico each tallied two goals

Match Two:
Score: Long Island University 15, Penn State Behrend 10
Records: Penn State Behrend (2-4), Long Island University (2-7)

Key Moments:

* Long Island won its second straight match of the day by defeating the Lions
* Each team scored four goals in the first quarter to head into the second deadlocked
* The Sharks held an 8-2 advantage over the next two quarters to pull away
* Behrend registered a 4-3 edge in goals in the fourth
* Kruger and Owen Kroh registered three goals apiece
* Kroh's three goals was his first collegiate hat trick
* Kruger's first two goals gave the Lions their first lead of the game
