ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore Nick Thompson registered his 100th career goal in the first game of the day, but the Penn State Behrend men's water polo team fell to Johns Hopkins and Austin on day one of the MPSF Regionals held at the Junker Center on Saturday.
Match One
Score: Johns Hopkins 26, Penn State Behrend 9
Key Moments:
* The Blue Jays proved to be too much for the Lions
* Johns Hopkins took a 6-2 lead after the first quarter and pushed it to 13-3 at the half
* Thompson tallied three goals, while Rylan McDowell and Ryan Carpico added two each
* Thompson and Carpico scored the goals in the first quarter

* In the six-goal first quarter, Thompson tallied two goals out of his team-high five while four others found the back of the net for Behrend
* Carpico and Caden Currykosky each scored a pair of goals
* Currykosky tallied the first one in the second quarter to make it 7-3
* The Kangaroos came out of the halftime break and tallied seven more goals over the next two quarters
* Austin also held the Lions to just two goals over the next 16 minutes
* Down 13-10 early in the fourth quarter, the Kangaroos scored four unanswered goals for the win
* Ethan Friedman made nine saves for the Lions
* Brown dished out three assists
