Strong Showing for Behrend Wrestling at W&J Invitational
The Penn State Behrend wrestling team turned in a strong performance at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational with 18 of 21 wrestlers earning at least one victory on the day.

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend wrestling team turned in a strong performance at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational with 18 of 21 wrestlers earning at least one victory on the day.
Noteworthy:
* The Lions showcased their depth and competitiveness across multiple weight classes, highlighted by several podium finishes and standout wins over nationally recognized opponents
* The 165-pound bracket was dominated by the Behrend duo of Steffan Lynch and Mason Savitz, who met in the finals
* Savitz went undefeated on the day, tallying a pin, an 11-5 decision, and a major decision en route to first place.
* Lynch battled his way to a second-place finish, recording a pin, a technical fall, and a notable 5-4 win over a returning national qualifier from Gettysburg in the semifinals.
* Lynch medically forfeited to teammate Mason Savitz, who claimed the championship title
* At 125 pounds, Evan Whiteside led the way with third-place finish
* Whiteside notched two pins and capped his day with an 11-7 victory over Alfred State to secure the bronze
* Zach Dellinger also had a strong showing in the same bracket, earning fifth place after collecting three pins and a technical fall throughout the tournament
* Several Lions also delivered solid performances, finishing the day with even records. Angelo Lomonte (2-2), Jake Brown (2-2), Hunter Waneka (2-2), Caleb McCollum (2-2), Eli Daugherty (2-2), Matt Caldwell (3-2), and Abraham Keep (4-2)

* The Lions take the mat on Saturday at home for their inaugural Behrend Duals taking on W&J College, RIT, and national-ranked Lycoming. Action set to begin at 11am in the Junker Center
