Strong Performances Power Behrend Wrestling to Dual-Meet Wins

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend wrestling team improved its dual-meet record to 5-1, defeating Penn State Altoona and Division 1 Mercyhurst at the Junker Center on Saturday.

Match One: Behrend 54, Penn State Altoona 6

Noteworthy:

* The Lions wrestled three out of the 10 matches
* Angelo Lomonte and Mason Savitz tallied wins at 125 and 165, respectively
* Lomonte started with a fall in the first period, taking down Tammar Reza in 1:27
* Savitz used 56 seconds to add six more points with a fall over Gonzalo Santana Hernandez
* Altoona managed to get six points with a fall at 174
* The remaining matches went in favor of Behrend by Altoona forfeits

Match Two: Behrend 42, Mercyhurst 9

Noteworthy:

* After falling at 125 to start the match, the Lions reeled off the next 24 points by posting wins from 133-165
* Zach Dellinger got his team-leading 13^th win by registering his fifth pin of the season at 133
* Dellinger, who was trailing in the match with only 30 seconds left, pinned Edwin Mooney in 6:29 to even the match at 6-all
* At 141, Cole Neil posted his second technical fall of the season with a 17-1 win to push the lead to 11-6
* Hunter Waneka earned a sudden-victory decision at 149, while Rudy Brown pinned Xavier Dombkowski in 2:03 for another six points
* Steffan Lynch managed a 12-4 major decision at 165 to remain undefeated in dual-meet action
* The Lakers got their final three points at 174, before the Lions used three straight falls to close out the match
* Louie DeJulia took down Jake LeClerc in 1:24 at 184, Abraham Keep pinned Josh Cantrell in 4:20 at 197 and Matt Caldwell needed 4:59 to pin Joey Baronick at 285
