ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team opens their season with the Toy Drive Invite, hosted by Mount Union on Saturday.
Behrend News and Notes:
* In 2020-21, Behrend finished second in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship
* The Lions return seven total All-CSAC selections, four first-team and three second team
* Jessie Johnson (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) returns as one of Behrend's top runners, pacing all competitors at the CSAC Championship a year ago in the 1000m with a time of 43:20.44
* Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) and Caroline Upham (Erie, PA/Iroquois) are back as two of the top Lions in field events after earning first-team All-CSAC honors in pole vault and high jump, respectively
* The Behrend Lions return a total of nine athletes while adding 10 new faces to the roster
* Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) joins the women's track and field team after earning Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Runner of the Year for women's cross country this fall
