Behrend Women's Water Polo Opens Season With Trio of Matches This Weekend
The Penn State Behrend women’s water polo team kicks off their season on Friday, starting the year at home against Mount St. Mary’s at 7 p.m. Opening weekend will continue through Sunday with the Lions taking on McKendree on Saturday and Siena at Mercyhurst as a part of the Curtis Robinette Memorial Invite.

* The Lions will hit the water for the first action this year, following a shortened season in 2021 that concluded with a 3-5 overall record
* Shannon Young (Roseville, CA/Roseville) returns looking to build off an All-American caliber season a year ago
* Young was named an Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-American Honorable Mention after potting a team-high 14 goals to go along with five assists
* Young was also selected as a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Second Team selection in 2021

* Mount St. Mary's began their season on January 30 and holds a record of 3-5
* The Mountaineers recorded wins over VMI, Wittenberg and Mercyhurst this season
* McKendree will be playing their second game of the season against the Lions
* The Bearcats opened the season with a 20-9 victory over Augustana
* Jaleh Moaddeli had a team-high eight goals and 10 points in the opener
* Siena has started the season on an 0-3 skid
* The Saints will play a total of three games on Saturday and Sunday prior to the matchup with Behrend
