Behrend Women’s Water Polo Ready for CWPA DIII Championships
The No. 5 seed Penn State Behrend women’s water polo team will travel to Rock Island, IL for the Collegiate Wate Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championships, hosted by Division III No. 10 ranked/CWPA No. 4 seed Augustana on April 11-13.
ERIE, Pa. – The No. 5 seed Penn State Behrend women's water polo team will travel to Rock Island, IL for the Collegiate Wate Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championships, hosted by Division III No. 10 ranked/CWPA No. 4 seed Augustana on April 11-13. The Lions match up with the hosts in the first round on Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT/6:30 p.m. ET.

* The Lions ended the regular season with a 4-12 overall record, dropping their contests at the W&J and Gannon Invites
* For the second straight year, junior Darragh Martin (Green Lane, PA/Upper Perkiomen) was named to Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) All-Conference Second Team
* Dylan Scherping (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) led the Lions on Saturday at W&J with five goals in two games, while Makenzie Rickerd (Rockford, MI/Rockford), Hope Edwards (Bloomfield, MI/Seaholm), and Lauren True each (Denton, TX/Guyer) chipped in three scores apiece
* On Sunday at Gannon, Martin and senior Nic Darrell (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) each scored their 100th career goals
* Martin finished with a game-high four goals against the Golden Knights
* Sophomore goalie Monica Villasenor (San Gabriel, CA/Pasadena) tallied 19 saves this past weekend
* Behrend went 2-2 for seventh place at last year's CWPA DIII Championships
* This marked the third time that the program has placed seventh at the championships and first time since the 2017 season
* Martin was named to the 2024 All-Tournament Second Team

* Fans attending the CWPA Division III Championship can pay for either a three-day tournament pass ($35) or a one-day pass ($15). Augustana College students, faculty and staff with a valid college ID, and senior citizens 65 and older, will be admitted at discounted prices of $10 (tournament pass) and $5 (one-day pass). All children 12 and under are free of charge. All tickets are exclusively available at the door as there will be no presale in advance of the championship.
