Golfers Start Season at Pitt-Bradford Invitational

BRADFORD, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's golf team split into two teams and competed at the Pitt-Bradford Fall Invitational on Saturday afternoon in their season opener.
The Lion's blue team took third place with a 322 total and the white team finished fifth with a score of 327. La Roche captured the invitational with a team-low score of 310 followed by Elmira in second (321).
Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) led the blue team and finished in the top five with a 18-hole total of 76. Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) carded an 80, while Dean Rainville (Erie, PA/McDowell) took third on the squad with an 82.
Dan Corbin (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) and Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) tallied an 84 and 88, respectively, to round out the scores for the blue team.
Newcome Dakota Tabar (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake) had the second best score for the entire team and first on the white squad with a 79 total. Zach Berkstresser (Waynesburg, PA/Jefferson Morgan) fired an 82, while Anthony Mangano (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) and Dan L'Herbier (Gibsonia, PA/Deer Lakes) matched with an 83.
Alec Italiano (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) rounded out the second team of five with an 85.
Behrend returns to action on Friday at the Hilbert Invitational. Tee-time is 12 p.m.
