Men’s Basketball Picked to Win AMCC; Conley Named Preseason Player of the Year
The Penn State Behrend men’s basketball team has been selected to win the 2012-13 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship after receiving five first place votes in the preseason poll, announced on Thursday.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men’s basketball team has been selected to win the 2012-13 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship after receiving five first place votes in the preseason poll, announced on Thursday.
The Lions are coming off a 16-12 season in which they played in the AMCC championship game for the second consecutive season and earned a bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Tournament.
Behrend returns 10 players from last year’s roster, including AMCC Co-Player of the Year Russ Conley (Transfer, PA/Reynolds). Conley averaged 16.6 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. He was named this year’s Preseason Player of the Year by the conference’s coaches.
The Lions will begin the season on November 16th against Wells in the Penn State Behrend Tip-Off Tournament at 8 p.m.
