Men's Soccer Blog From Brazil: Travel Day
The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team is taking part in an international sports tour of Brazil from May 17-26. The following blog was sent by Head Coach Dan Perritano, and will be the first in a series of short updates from the team trip to South America.
Day One: Travel and First Moments in Brazil
A smooth first day/night of travel began with the group of 31 gathering at the Pittsburgh airport for our travel into Sao Paolo, Brazil by way of Atlanta. We arrived in Sao Paolo early in the morning and met our guide Andrea. We hit the road in a private coach bus for a spectacular three-hour ride through the Serra da Mantigueira mountains to our hotel in Sao Bento Saupauici. After a meal we headed down to the village for a brief but spirited practice in preparation for our first match on Wednesday night.
Wednesday will be up early for a day of various activities that include horseback riding, hiking, and swimming, followed by a clicinc for local children. Wednesday evening we will play our first match versus a local team. Please be sure to follow along to see how our first match went and how our players are enjoying life on the international road!
