ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team will host No. 4 Penn State Altoona in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) semifinals on Thursday afternoon.
The Lions (15-3, 8-1 AMCC) earned a first-round bye after going 8-1 in the conference. Behrend won the tiebreaker over Medaille by defeating the Mavericks in the regular season. The Lions will take on Penn State Altoona (9-7, 6-3 AMCC) at 1:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to the AMCC championship game on Saturday.
The other semifinal game features No. 2 Medaille and No. 3 La Roche. The AMCC champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Mavericks and Behrend have won the last seven AMCC championships. Last season, the Lions ended a three-year reign by Medaille with a 1-0 decision.
Earlier this season, Penn State Altoona handed Behrend their only conference loss on a last-second goal in the second overtime.
