Men’s Track and Field Announces Outdoor Team Awards
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men’s track and field team has announced the 2012 team awards for the outdoor season.
The Most Valuable Player award went to John Cerminara (Williamsburg, VA / Jamestown). Cerminara broke the school record in both the shot put and the discus. He was all-conference in both the shot put and the hammer throw. Cerminara won the Mason Dixon Conference championship in the discus throw and finished the season ranked 42nd in the country.
Dylan Bilka (Seven Fields, PA / Seneca Valley) was tabbed as the program’s Rookie of the Year. Bilka made an immediate impact on the team, setting the school record in the pole vault. He was the Mason Dixon Conference champion in the pole vault and earned All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) honors in that event as well. Bilka wrapped up the season ranked 27th in the country in the pole vault.
Jeremy Tiedemann (Mt. Lebanon, PA/Mt. Lebanon) earned the team’s Most Improved Player award. Tiedemann set new career-bests in the hammer throw, discus throw, and the shot put. He improved by 30 feet in the hammer, 10 feet in the discus, and two feet in the shot put.
The Scholarship and Leadership accolade went to Dylan Beck (Saxonburg, PA / Knoch). A vocal leader both on and off the track, Beck represented the team in a positive manner while setting a personal record in the triple jump. He was also a part of the 4x100 all-conference relay team.
