Men's Track & Field Competes at ECAC Championships
The Penn State Behrend men’s track & field team tied for 14th out of 56 teams at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Championships on Friday afternoon.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Penn State Behrend men's track & field team tied for 14th out of 56 teams at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Championships on Friday afternoon.
With more than 1,400 participants and 97 different institutions represented, the Lions had two All-ECAC performers while the 4x800 relay team broke the school record. John Cerminara (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 154-05 for All-ECAC honors and Conor MacMannis also earned the accolade with his eighth place in the high jump with a 6-003.25 mark.
The relay team of Phil Martone (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep), Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), Patrick Shipton (Mercer, PA/Mercer) and Devin Beggs (Franklin, PA/Franklin) finished five seconds faster than their season-best time to set a new school record in the 4x800 in 8:00.05.
Cerminara also competed in the shot put and placed 16th overall with a throw of 47-00.25.
Kalil Slaughter (Sheffield, PA/Sheffield), who just missed the finals in the 100m dash yesterday, posted a time of 22.24 in the 200m for 17th overall.
Slaugther also joined Andres Morales (Alajuela, Costa Rica/ICS), Kevin Lai (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood), and Geoffrey Faltot (Mercer, PA/Mercer) in the 4x100m relay to record a time of 43.35 for 22nd place.
