Penn State Behrend Struggles Continue Against Gannon
The Penn State Behrend men's water polo began a two game home stand on Friday night against cross town rival Gannon University. The Behrend Lions entered the evenings match 2-8 on the year.
The blue and white came out strong against the Golden Knights. The Behrend Lions found themselves down 7-3 at half. The blue and white came out with a fury of goals to bring the game within two. Matt Pluta (Erie/Cathedral Prep) led the Behrend Lions with three goal. However, the Golden Knights would not let the Behrend Lions back into the game. Jon Bacon (Glendale, CA/Crespi Carmelite) chipped in two goals for the blue and white. That would not be enough.
With a final score of 14-7 the Behrend Lions fell to 0-23 against Gannon in the nine year history of Penn State Behrend water polo.
The Behrend Lions will finish out the regular season in the Junker Center Pool as they take on the Washington Jefferson Presidents. The match begins at 3:00 p.m. This is the last match before the blue and white travel to Johns Hopkins to compete for the Division III Eastern Championships. The two day tournament puts the Behrend Lions in bracket A with Johns Hopkins and Connecticut College.
