Senior runner Kevin Gorny (Erie/McDowell) was named the men's cross country team MVP for 2009. Gorny capped off a spectacular cross country career by finishing first in the AMCC Championship meet, and earning his third AMCC Runner of the Year award while helping the blue and white take the 2009 AMCC title.
Rob Shrawder (New Wilmington/West Middlesex) was selected as the team's leadership/scholarship award winner. The senior finished in eleventh place at the AMCC Championship meet and earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive season.
The men's cross country most improved award winner was Joshua Ferrell (Sharpsville/Sharpsville). The freshman runner finished eighth at the AMCC Championships and was named all-conference.
Freshman runner Alex Myers (Oakmont/Riverview) was tabbed the Behrend men's cross country rookie of the year. Myers finished seventh at the AMCC Championships and was named all-conference.
Andy Iams (Harrison City/Penn Trafford) was picked as the team's representative for the AMCC All-Sportsmanship team. Iams finished second at the AMCC Championship meet, was named all-conference for the fourth consecutive season, and also serves as the Behrend Lions Student-Athlete Advisory Club (SAAC) President.
