Behrend Men's and Women's Cross Country Results
The Penn State Behrend men’s and women’s cross country teams hosted 18 collegiate programs in their annual invitational Saturday.
ERIE, Pa.- The Penn State Behrend men's and women's cross country teams hosted 18 collegiate programs in their annual invitational Saturday.
Last season, the men finished third place out of fifteen teams while the woman finished second. This year the results were very similar. The Behrend men finished fourth with an average time of 28:22 only trailing nationally ranked Mount Union (27:12), Buffalo State (28:12) and nationally ranked Case Western Reserve (28:14). The Raiders also took the women's race with Behrend finishing second and a average time of 20:48.
Four runners for the women were placed in the Top 15 - Katie Spade, who ran an excellent race completed the course in 20:23, which was good enough to place her fourth overall. Catie Bertges (20:32), Haley Hughes (20:88) and Liz Keller (20:29) held the 7th,10th and 11th respectively, while Jenna Fatica rounded off the Top 20 finishes with a time of 21:31
To lead the way for the men was a pair of freshman in Denis Lydon (27:43) and Danny Mello (28:04) placing 12th and 17th. Junior Carl Kallgren (28:36), who was half a minute off of his pace from last year placed 28th. Not far behind were Justin Dipenti (28:38) and Steelton Flynn (28:51) who just missed the Top 30 runners by a few seconds crossed the finish line 31st and 36th.
The Lions will travel to Pittsburgh to run against Carnegie Mellon in Schenley Park September 25.
