Behrend Men Carnegie Mellon Invitational Results
The Penn State Behrend men’s cross country team finished 9th out of 22 teams in the Carnegie Invitational Saturday.
Pittsburgh, PA – The Penn State Behrend men’s cross country team finished 9th out of 22 teams in the Carnegie Invitational Saturday.
The Lions posted a team score of 228 points to place Top 10 behind champion Wayne State (49), Carnegie Mellon (53), Duquesne (71) and Saint Vincent (160). In the five AMCC schools that competed in the invitational, Behrend ranked first.
Denny Lydon, with his time of 27:25, ran well to pace the Lions and finish 41st overall. Fellow freshmen Dan Mello also ran strong turning in a 27:42 and placing 54th out of 234 runners.
Steve Monnie and Carl Kallgren were the third and fourth place finishes for the Lions clocking 28:24 and a 28:37, respectively. Alex Myers was the 95th runner to finish the course and rounded up the Top Five team runners crossing the line in 28:55. Brian Harney of Carnegie Mellon took first place honors in the 5k race with a time of 25:15.
The Lions will look to continue their strong performance as they return to action October 16 at the Inter-Regional Rumble in Oberlin, Ohio.
