Men's and Women's Mideast Regional Results
SLIPPERY ROCK, PA - The Penn State Behrend men's and women's cross country program competed in Mideast regional Saturday. The women finished 13th out of 45 teams while the men finished 23rd out of 47 college programs.
Haverford and Johns Hopkins took home the first place hard wear for the men's and women's teams respectfully. Haverford finished with a meet low 23 points while Johns Hopkins posted a low 68.
Fourteen individuals from the men's and women's teams were chosen to race at the regional based on overall performance throughout the year. Re resenting the men were Justin DiPenti, Denny Lydon, Carl Kallgren, Dan Mello, Chris Henley, Steve Monnie and Steel Flynn. In the women's meet were Katie Spade, Catie Bertges, Liz Keller, Emily Berry, Haley Hughes, Kaitlynn Patterson and Jenna Fatica.
Justin DiPenti and Denny Lydon were the top Behrend male runners. Dipenti clocked in at time of 27:19 to place 89th and Lydon finished 108th to go along with a time of 27:38. In third, forth and fifth place for the men were Chris Henley (27:57), Steve Monnie (28:36) and Steel Flynn (28:59) who all finished Top 200 in the field of 316 competitors.
Lead by Katie Spade and Catie Bertges the Lions ran a great 6k race. Spade turned in a time of 23:54 and finished a team low 42nd place while Bertges finished 63rd and clocked a 24:16. Liz Keller and Emily Berry wre stride for stride as both ladies finished very close. Keller crossed the line at 24:39 and Berry was a second behind. Rounding up the Lions Top five runners was Haley Hughes who recorded a time of 25:42.
