Lions Run Strong at DeSales Invitational

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) finished in 33 place to lead Behrend to a 20th place finish on Saturday at the DeSales Invitational.

Lydon finished the five-mile race in 27:15 to lead the Lions.  Lydon made his final move in the last mile passing multiple runners to finish in the top 50.  Michael Smolinski (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) and Billy Cvecko (Erie, PA/McDowell) placed in the top 100. Smolinski clocked in at 28:20 for a 84th place finish while Cvecko finished with a time of 28:23 to earn 87th place. 

The race was broken up into two groups because of the large numbers. There was a total of 448 runners and 45 teams in the meet.

Behrend will be back in action at Saturday for the Inter-Regional Rumble in Oberlin, OH.  Start time is 11 a.m.
