Richardson Named AMCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Penn State Behrend's Rachel Richardson (Moon Township/Moon Area)
has been named the AMCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for
February 23.
The junior scored 17 points on February 21 in a win against
Pitt-Bradford in the final game of the regular season.
Behrend's 84-74 win clinched the #4 seed for the AMCC Tournament
and set up a first round home game against Medaille for the Behrend
Lions.
Richardson also had a strong performance earlier in the week when
she scored 23 points during a loss at La Roche. For the week
the guard averaged 20.0 ppg, and tallied seven steals, six
rebounds, and four assists. Richardson is averaging 12.2 ppg
on the season and is currently second in the AMCC in steals per
game, averaging 3.5 thefts per contest.
The Behrend Lions will now face the #5 seed Medaille Mavericks on
Tuesday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Junker Center.
Behrend and Medaille split the season series with each team winning
on its home court. The winner will advance to the AMCC
semifinal round, which will be played Friday, February 27 at
Pitt-Greensburg.
