Women’s Soccer Heading to Brazil

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team is set to leave for Brazil tomorrow for an eight-day/seven-night international sports tour from May 10-18.  This will be the fourth international trip the women’s soccer team has taken, with previous trips to England/Ireland (1998), Ireland (2004), and Italy (2008).

The Behrend Lions trip has been coordinated by Brazilian Travel Adventures Inc., and will include two friendly games against local Brazilian teams.  The team, along with head coach Patrick O'Driscoll, will also tour three cities, including Sao Bento do Sapucai, Paraty, and Ilha Grande.

The trip provides a great opportunity for student athletes to view and experience a different culture.  Outside of their games, the Lions will have a chance to see a culture completely different than America.  The players and coaches will also put on a clinic for local children.

Members of the women’s soccer team will “blog” about their experiences, which can be viewed at psblions.com

Behrend is coming of a 13-7-2 season in which they captured the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
