Penn State Behrend Takes Loss in Junker Center Pool
The Behrend Lions welcomed the Washington and Jefferson Presidents to the Junker Center pool on Saturday, January 24. The meet was the last time the the blue and white would be competing in the Junker Center this year.
The Behrend men's swimming and diving team would take a 93-134 loss. Steve Graves (McMurray/Peter's Township) took the one meter diving event on the men's side. Graves would tally a score of 243.3. He would out-score his competition by 35 points. Ben Strunk (Cogan Station/Williamsport) would have a solid meet taking second in the 200 yard breaststroke. Strunk would team with Josh Weaver (Franklin/Franklin), Dane Dombrosky (Mt. Pleasant/Mt. Pleasant), and Steve Zomcik (Kersey/St. Marys) to take second place in the 200 yard medley relay.
Diver Krystal Kovach (Scott Township/Chartiers Valley) would
continue to dominate the diving events in the Behrend pool.
Kovach would take the one meter with a score of 253.1 and the three
meter with a 272.15 mark. Both marks are NCAA qualifiers
while her three meter score set the Behrend team and pool
records. Hillary MacManus (Beaver
Falls/Blackhawk) would have a strong 100 yard freestyle
time with 59.23 mark. The women's team would fall to the
Presidents despite a strong performance from the blue and
white.
The Behrend Lions will be on the road to finish up the 2009
season. They will be at Pitt-Bradford on January 30 and then
at Mt. Union the next day. The blue and white will then
compete at the AMCC championships hosted by Grove City on February
12-14
