Spooner, Wade Earn AMCC Weekly Honors
Junior MaryEllen Spooner and freshman Meghan Wade have been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.
ERIE, Pa. – Junior MaryEllen Spooner (Lockhaven, PA/West Springfield) and freshman Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea), both members of the Penn State Behrend women’s swimming and diving team, have been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.
Spooner earned three second-place finishes against Allegheny on Saturday. She took second in the 200 backstroke with a season-best time of 2:21.36, while swimming a leg on the second-place 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.
Wade, who is earning her second Diver of the Week honors. She won the 3m diving competition with her best score for six dives (251.65) against Allegheny. She also took first in the 1m event with a score of 223.90.
The Lions return to action on Sunday at home against St. Vincent. Meet time is 1 p.m.
