Behrend Lions Climb Past Mt. Aloysius on Saturday, 3-0
Penn State Behrend volleyball climbed past Mt. Aloysius in three straight sets on Saturday, October 17, to improve to 6-1 in the AMCC. Behrend claimed set one 25-10. In set two, Behrend rallied from an 11-9 deficit to knot the game at 11 apiece.
Penn State Behrend volleyball climbed past Mt. Aloysius in three straight sets on Saturday, October 17, to improve to 6-1 in the AMCC.
Behrend claimed set one 25-10. In set two, Behrend rallied from an 11-9 deficit to knot the game at 11 apiece. Behrend freshman Mary Sperry (Atlantic, PA/Conneaut Lake) pounded a kill that spurred a 6-0 run for the blue and white in the 25-19 win. The third set also went to Behrend by virtue of a 25-9 score.
On the day, Stefanie Kelley (Moon Township, PA/Moon) finished the game with 12 digs and three aces. "I thought Stef played well and stepped up for us in the backcourt," said Head Coach Phil Pisano. "She was aggressive, made good reads and controlled the action for our team."
Lauren Dalton (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) added eight kills and
five aces, while Alexandra Johnson (Imperial, PA/West Allegheny)
posted eight kills and blocks. Sperry had nine kills and 10
digs
Mt. Aloysius falls to 8-11 and 3-3 in the AMCC. The Behrend Lions
(16-6, 6-1) have won ten of their last twelve matches and will
travel to Fredonia (14-10) on Tuesday for a non-conference match at
7:00 p.m. Behrend will then host the Hilbert Hawks (3-13) the
following day in the Junker Center.
