Mandy Wehrle Named Enterprise Rent-A-Car Athlete of the Week
Penn State Behrend's Mandy Wehrle (Rossiter, PA/Punxsutawney) has been named the Enterprise RENT-A-CAR Athlete of the week for the week of May 4, 2009. Wehrle earned three all-conference honors at the Mason Dixion Championships hosted by Frostburg State.

Track and Field Teams Finish Third at Mason-Dixon Conference Championships
The Penn State Behrend men's and women's track and field teams each took third place May 1-2 at the Mason-Dixon Conference Championships. The third place finish matched the best men's finish ever and was a new best for the women's team. The men earned 105 points, while Salisbury won the meet with 200. The women earned 98 points, while Frostburg State won with 123.

Behrend Track and Field Men Take First, Women Second at Westminster Invite
The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team won the Westminster Invitational on April 18, while the women finished second. The men's team scored 252 points to run away with the title as Mount Union finished second among the seven teams with 173 points. The women's team took second of seven teams with 128 points, while Westminster was first with 248.

Behrend Track and Field Athletes Put Up More Great Performances at the Rock
The Penn State Behrend track & field teams had several notable performances on April 11 at the Slippery Rock Invitational, with Behrend Lions crowding the top of the scoreboard in many events. Ronson Mazany (Ashville, NY/Panama Central) continued to dominate in the jumping events.

Behrend Track and Field Teams Sprint to Men's and Women's Titles at W & J
The men's and women's track and field teams both captured team titles at the W & J Invitational on Saturday, April 4 with numerous athletes posting big scores. The men's team won the meet with a team score of 128.50, defeating second place Carnegie Mellon by 11.5 points (117) in the 13-team field.

Behrend Men Bring Home Second Place at the Bill Van Horne Invitational
The men's and women's track and field team competed in the Bill Van Horne Invitational on March 28 at Wheeling Jesuit University. Both teams would have strong showings as the men's team would take second place and the women seventh. The Behrend men would be led by Bryson Hartzler (Belleville, PA/Indian Valley) who would win the men's high jump.

Behrend Athletes Shine at ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships
Eight Penn State Behrend track & field athletes represented themselves well at the ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Tufts University March 6 and 7. Over 100 Division III institutions sent track & field athletes to Boston to compete at the championships, and the blue and white had several notable successes over the weekend. Jenna Fatica (Erie/Villa Maria) capped off a terrific indoor season by setting a new Behrend record in the 800 meter run.

Indoor Track and Field Finishes Regular Season Strong at Marietta
Penn State Behrend indoor track and field capped off their regular season with solid performances at the Marietta College Open last Saturday. The men's team would go on to finish in 3rd place while the women would end up 5th overall at the meet. "The Marietta meet was a good way to finish the regular season for the indoor track season," said coach Greg Cooper. "The teams did well as a whole, and the ECAC qualifiers were able to get in one last competition before the championship season begins."

Behrend Indoor Track and Field Teams Have Strong Showing at Kenyon Classic
Penn State Behrend Indoor Track and Field teams competed in the Kenyon Classic on Saturday, February 21 held at the Kenyon Athletic Center. Both the men's and women's team had solid performances with several first place finishes and new Behrend records were achieved. Doug Stevenson (Sharpsville/Sharpsville) led the Behrend Lions to first place finish at the Kenyon Classic.

Stevenson Earns Enterprise Rent-A-Car Athlete of the Week
Penn State Behrend junior Doug Stevenson (Sharpsville, PA/Sharpsville) was named the Enterprise RENT-A-CAR athlete of the week for the week of February 23, 2009. Stevenson had a solid week leading the Behrend Lions to a first place finish at the Kenyon Classic on Saturday.

Penn State Behrend Track and Field Passes Test at Cornell
On Saturday, February 14 the Penn State Behrend indoor track & field teams traveled to compete with Division I, II, and III programs at the Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell. Behrend athletes came through at the highly competitive meet with several notable performances setting school records and hitting ECAC qualifying marks.

Monoskey Named Enterprise Rent-A-Car Athlete of the Week
Freshman thrower Katie Monoskey (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) was named the Enterprise RENT-A-CAR athlete of the week for the week of January 26, 2009. Monoskey would have a great meet for the Behrend Lions at Case Western over the weekend.

Track and Field Opens 2009 Season at Case Western Invitational
The Behrend Men's and Women's indoor track and field teams began their seasons on Saturday, January 22 at Case Western Reserve University. Both teams got off to a strong showing by placing high marks in numerous events including some new Behrend records. "A great start to our season, I was pleased with the competitiveness from many of our athletes," said coach Greg Cooper.
